Polk Salad Annie
Polk Salad Annie foi uma das canções que marcaram a fase dos anos 70 de Elvis. Foi gravada originalmente por Tony Joe White em 1968. Atualmente
Tony está com 62 anos e nasceu no dia 23 de Julho de 1943 em Los Angeles.
Elvis a incluiu em seus shows na segunda temporada em Las Vegas sendo um
sucesso absoluto e recebeu criticas positivas a modo de ser eleita a
versão definitiva da canção. Até o ano de 1977, Elvis a levou em seu
repertório e foi lançado no excelente disco "Elvis On Stage". A canção
novamente marcou espaço no excelente álbum gravado ao vivo no Madison
Square Garden. Desta vez, Elvis não falava mais a parte inicial da canção
e ia direto na parte cantada. É interessante repararmos que quanto mais
o tempo passou, mais "pesada" a música ficou. Era iniciada com o baixo
fulminante de Jerry Scheff com direito a solos de James Burton
(na guitarra) e novamente Jerry Scheff (no baixo).
Ronnie Tutt (na bateria) era um caso a parte. Em certos momentos até
pensamos estar ouvindo uma banda de heavy metal! Qualquer fosse a
cidade onde Elvis tocasse, esse era um número onde Elvis definitavamente
trazia o estádio abaixo! Uma rápida curiosidade é que Elvis cantou
apenas uma vez a canção no ano de 1973. Foi no show do dia 15 de Fevereiro.
A canção saiu pela primeira vez no lendário LP Elvis On Stage.
Não se sabe a razão deste corte no repertório em 1973, mas a partir de Janeiro de 1974, definitivamente a canção voltou e desta vez para ficar.

TRUE LOVE TRAVELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD ( de 1970), THE POWER OF ZHAZHAM (de 1971), GYRATING ASHVILLE (de 1975) e MOODY
BLUE & OTHER GREAT PERFORMANCES (de 1977). Na FTD foi lançado em alguns álbuns como: ONE NIGHT IN VEGAS (de 1970), IT´S MIDNIGHT (de 1974),
